THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN UPTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON EST WEDNESDAY.

* LOCATIONS… NEW YORK CITY… ADJACENT PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY… AND LONG ISLAND.

* HAZARD TYPES… SNOW.

* ACCUMULATIONS… SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 3 TO 5 INCHES.

* TEMPERATURES… IN THE LOWER 30S.

* VISIBILITIES… ONE HALF MILE AT TIMES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES… AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN UPTON HAS ISSUED A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM TO 11 PM EST THIS EVENING.

* LOCATIONS… COASTAL LOCATIONS ALONG THE SOUTH SHORE OF NASSAU… QUEENS AND SOUTHWEST SUFFOLK.

* TIDAL DEPARTURES… AROUND 3 FT ABOVE ASTRONOMICAL TIDES.

* TIMING… MODERATE COASTAL FLOODING EXPECTED FOR THIS MORNINGS HIGH TIDE CYCLE. ADDITIONAL MINOR TO MODERATE COASTAL FLOODING IS EXPECTED WITH TONIGHTS AND WEDNESDAY MORNINGS HIGH TIDE CYCLES.

* BEACH IMPACTS… ELEVATED WATER LEVELS AND LARGE BREAKING WAVES WILL RESULT IN AREAS OF DUNE TOE EROSION AND LOCALIZED OVERWASHES FOR THE ATLANTIC OCEAN BEACHES.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS… WIDESPREAD FLOODING OF VULNERABLE SHORE ROADS AND/OR PROPERTIES DUE TO HEIGHT OF STORM TIDE AND/OR WAVE ACTION. SEVERAL ROAD CLOSURES WILL BE NEEDED. ISOLATED STRUCTURAL DAMAGE MAY BE OBSERVED.
