Goldfeder Sweeps Aside Concerns

Department of Sanitation to add resources to keep Rockaway Beach Blvd clean

Community concerns prompted request for additional street sweeping on Rockaway Beach Boulevard

Rockaway Beach, Queens – On behalf of residents and local business owners, Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder (D – Rockaway Beach) thanked that the Department of Sanitation for listening to community concerns and agreeing to conduct additional street sweeping on Rockaway Beach Boulevard throughout the summer.

“I’m glad that the Department of Sanitation has stepped up to ensure our community is kept clean during our busiest season,” said Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder. “Rockaway Beach Boulevard between Beach 86th Street and Beach 102nd Street has become one of our most popular and growing corridors, used by visitors and families alike. I thank DSNY and the local garage for their continued commitment to our community.”

After a request from the Rockaway Beach Civic Association, and concerns from local business owners, Goldfeder reached out to the local sanitation garage to request that additional street sweeping be conducted on Rockaway Beach Boulevard, between Beach 86th Street and Beach 102nd Street. The Department of Sanitation agreed to the request and ensured that extra attention would be given to Rockaway Beach Boulevard during the summer season.

In addition, Sanitation has agreed to work with new business owners along the growing corridor to better understand concerns and to educate them on business responsibility in maintaining clean sidewalks and streets.

“As Rockaway continues to recover after Sandy, we will see more and more visitors to our beautiful beaches. The continued effort of the DSNY and partnership with the community will ensure that families will have the same quality of life, and our beaches and streets will stay as clean as possible,” concluded Goldfeder.
